Joining Forces
Joining up with other scrapbookers can be a very fun and rewarding experience. While some people like to work independently in the quiet of their own home, a vast majority like to get out of the house and join a crop.
A crop is a group of people with similar interests who get together for uninterrupted time to learn new scrapbooking techniques, share ideas and meet new friends.
When looking for a group to join, first consider what your interests are. These scrapbooking groups can be very general in nature or very specific to certain ideas, themes or interests. For instance, if you are a church member, there are many church groups that have religious based scrapbooking crops.
If you have a poodle and love taking pictures of him or her, there are groups out there that are solely based around scrapping their pampered pet. The list goes on and on. No matter what your likes and interests are, you are sure to find other scrappers just like you.
These same “forces” all have different wants and needs just like you. That is why there are so many different types of groups you can join.
There are day and evening scrapbooking crops, weekend crops, scrapbooking tours, cruises and even scrapbooking retreats. Some meets may include a “goodie bag” containing various scrapbook supplies, regular drawings and prizes to be given away at each event, as well as free make-n-takes and demonstrations throughout the day.
No matter which one you decide is best for you, all of these offer you the opportunity to not only get out and meet new people with similar interests, but to also turn your photos, journals, family history and memorabilia into a beautiful work of art.
There are many different ways to find information on how to find other scrappers or crops to join. Many independent office supply stores carry scrapbooking supplies and also offer classes and hold crops.
There are scrapbooking magazines that have a wealth of information about groups that get together, what their interests are and how to join. There are also many web sites you can visit that have links to scrapbooking get-togethers.

I found my local crop group by chatting with a woman who was shopping near me on the scrapbooking aisle at my local Micheals craft store. But it would have been simpler if I could have just searched online.
If you are in central Floriday try a Yahoo search for the Sunshine Scrappers. We always love to meet new scrapbookers and welcome them to our monthly crops. Or if you just want ideas – come and join the group and chat with us online about how we run things. It’s very organized and has been running for nearly 10 years.
A crop group is a wonderful way to meet new friends who share your passion for memory keeping. Our group usually has a theme for each month with a few crop games and a potluck supper! We’ve done everything from a scrapbook cruise theme to a Cinco De Scrappo Party, to Scrap Therapy.
We have annual scrapbook garage sales, scrapbook retreats together and swaps.
If you don’t have a crop club in your area you should start one yourself! You’d be surprised at how many others are in the same boat! If you are hosting a crop and want to get the word out you can post it at Key Lime Crops on their blog.
Good Luck
